2007 Baltimore Ravens Season
The 2007 season was the Baltimore Ravens' 12th in the National Football League (NFL) and their 9th and final under head coach Brian Billick. They entered the season hoping to improve on their 13–3 record from 2006, but failed to improve on that record. After a 4–2 start, the Ravens went on a franchise record 9-game losing streak. However, the Ravens defeated the Steelers in week 17 and finished the season with at 5–11. They were eliminated from playoff contention for the first time since 2005 with a loss to the undefeated Patriots in Week 13. Offseason During the offseason the Ravens cut Jamal Lewis, with the intent of re-signing him at a lower salary. However, he then signed with the Cleveland Browns. The Ravens also choose not to place the franchise tag on Adalius Thomas, who then signed with the New England Patriots. AFC North
The American Football Conference – Northern Division or AFC North is one of the four divisions of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The division was adopted after the restructuring of the 2002 NFL season, when the league realigned divisions after expanding to 32 teams. This is the only division in the NFL in which no member team has hosted a Super Bowl in their stadiums. Formation The AFC North currently has four members: Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers. 2007 New England Patriots Season
The 2007 season was the New England Patriots' 38th in the National Football League (NFL), their 48th overall and their eighth under head coach Bill Belichick. The Patriots improved on their 12–4 record from 2006 and won the AFC East for the sixth time in seven years by winning all 16 of their games. Starting quarterback Tom Brady won the NFL's Most Valuable Player award. They became only the eighth team in NFL history to finish a regular season undefeated, and first to do so since the 1972 Miami Dolphins, as well as only the fourth to finish undefeated and untied. Marshal Yanda
Marshal John Yanda (born September 15, 1984) is an American former football guard who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Baltimore Ravens. He played college football at the University of Iowa, and was drafted by the Ravens in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft and spent his entire 13-year career with the team. With six consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2011 to 2016 (the longest active streak amongst guards at the time) Yanda was widely considered to be among the best offensive linemen in football; he was also a unanimous selection to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. Yanda missed most of the 2017 season due to injury, but was elected to the Pro Bowl again in 2018 and 2019 before announcing his retirement in March 2020. 2006 Kansas State Wildcats Football Team
The 2006 Kansas State Wildcats football team represented Kansas State University in the 2006 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team's head coach was Ron Prince, in his first year at K-State after leaving his offensive coordinator position at Virginia. Prince had no other head coaching experience prior to accepting the K-State job. The Wildcats played their home games in Bill Snyder Family Stadium, which had previously been known as KSU Stadium but was renamed by the university's athletic department after Bill Snyder's first retirement following the 2005 season. 2006 saw the Wildcats finish with a record of 7–6, and a 4–4 record in Big 12 Conference play. Yamon Figurs
Yamon Figurs (born January 10, 1983) is a former gridiron football wide receiver and return specialist. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played college football at Kansas State. Figurs was also a member of the Detroit Lions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, Edmonton Eskimos and Saskatchewan Roughriders. The 2006 Auburn Tigers football team represented Auburn University in the 2006 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Head coach Tommy Tuberville served his eighth season at Auburn, the third longest tenure among current SEC head coaches that year. In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. Troy Smith
Troy James Smith (born July 20, 1984) is a former American football quarterback. He played college football at Ohio State, was recognized as an All-American, and won the Heisman Trophy in 2006. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft, and also played for the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks, and the CFL's Montreal Alouettes. Despite winning the Heisman Trophy, Smith never found success on the professional level, never appearing in more than six games a season during his four-year NFL career. Ben Grubbs
Benjamin Richard Grubbs (born March 10, 1984) is a former American football guard. He played college football at Auburn University, and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He has also played for the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs. Early years Grubbs was born in Columbus, Georgia. He was raised in Eclectic, Alabama and attended Elmore County High School where he was the team's star linebacker. Grubbs registered 150 tackles, six sacks, and an interception as a senior. A two-way star, Grubbs also played fullback, rushing for 130 yards on 28 carries, with two touchdowns. He also caught seven passes for 50 yards. Ovie Phillip Mughelli (born June 10, 1980) is a former American football fullback who last played for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). After playing college football for Wake Forest University, he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens.
