2006 Miami Dolphins Season
The 2006 Miami Dolphins season was the franchise's 37th season in the National Football League (NFL), the 41st overall and the second and final under head coach Nick Saban. The team failed to improve on their 9–7 record in 2005, and they finished the season 6–10 after being hyped by some to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl, and saw their coach Nick Saban abandon his contract to coach college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide, despite saying repeatedly that he would stay in Miami. This season was also best known for the Dolphins almost signing former San Diego Chargers quarterback Drew Brees, as they were one of the two teams (the other being the New Orleans Saints) interested in acquiring the released quarterback. AFC East
The American Football Conference – Eastern Division or AFC East is one of the four divisions of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). There are currently four teams that reside in the division: the Buffalo Bills (based in Orchard Park, New York); the Miami Dolphins (based in Miami Gardens, Florida); the New England Patriots (based in Foxborough, Massachusetts); and the New York Jets (based in East Rutherford, New Jersey). Daniel Constantine Marino Jr. (born September 15, 1961) is an American former football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 17 seasons with the Miami Dolphins. After a successful college career at Pittsburgh and being named First-team All-American in 1981, Marino was the last quarterback taken in the first round of the quarterback class of 1983. Rodrique Wright
Rodrique Charles Wright (born July 31, 1984) is an American former college and professional football player who currently serves as defensive end coach for the University of Miami football team. He was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL) for a total of five seasons. He played college football for the University of Texas, and was recognized as a consensus All-American. The NFL's Miami Dolphins chose him in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft, and he also played for the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders. Early years Wright was born in Houston, Texas. Frederick H. Evans (born November 6, 1983) is a former American football defensive tackle. He was drafted by the Dolphins in the seventh round (212th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played college football at College of DuPage for two years before transferring to Texas State. Early years Evans was a two-way starting lineman at Chicago's Morgan Park High School, which is generally recognized as one of the top five high schools in the Chicago Public School system. Joseph Christopher Toledo (born October 20, 1982) is a former American football offensive tackle. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played college football at Washington. Toledo has also been a member of the Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, and Philadelphia Eagles. Derek Steven Hagan Jr. (born September 21, 1984) is a former American football wide receiver. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played college football at Arizona State University. Hagan has also previously played for the New York Giants, Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders. Early years Hagan attended Palmdale High School in Palmdale, California, where he earned all-conference honors his junior and senior seasons. He caught 65 passes for 843 yards on offense and had 23 tackles and four interceptions on defense as a junior. Jason Jamar Allen (born July 5, 1983) is a former American football cornerback. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins 16th overall of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played college football at Tennessee. Allen also played for the Houston Texans and Cincinnati Bengals. High school career Allen earned various honors while playing football at Muscle Shoals High School in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He was named an All-American from SuperPrep, PrepStar and Borderwars.com. He was twice a 5A All-State running back and was once selected as the Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year. Samuel Adolphus Madison, Jr. (born April 23, 1974) is an American football coach and former cornerback. He is the cornerbacks coach and pass game specialist for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the secondary/cornerbacks coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. Will D. Allen (born August 5, 1978) is a former American football cornerback. Allen played college football at Syracuse. He was drafted in the first round of the 2001 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Allen has also played for the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots.
