2005 In NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
The 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series was the eleventh season of the Craftsman Truck Series, the third highest stock car racing series sanctioned by NASCAR in the United States. Ted Musgrave of Ultra Motorsports was crowned the season's champion. A rule change affected the qualification process in 2005. The top 30 teams in the owners' standings at the end of the 2004 season saw their drivers qualify automatically for the first four races of the season, provided they attempted all races in the previous year. However, only 29 teams met the criteria, so at the start of the season, one additional spot was available for the remaining teams on the entry list. List Of NASCAR Truck Series Champions
The NASCAR Truck Series Drivers' Championship is awarded by the chairman of NASCAR to the most successful NASCAR Camping World Truck Series racing car driver over a season, as determined by a points system based on race results. The Drivers' Championship was first awarded in 1995 to Mike Skinner. The first driver to win multiple Championships was Ron Hornaday Jr., in 1996 and 1998. The most recent Drivers' Champion is Zane Smith who won his first championship in 2022. Overall, Nineteen different drivers have won the Championship, with Ron Hornaday Jr. holding the record for most titles at four. Crafton has the record for most consecutive Drivers' Championships, winning two from 2013 to 2014. Xpress Motorsports
Xpress Motorsports was a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team. The team won the Truck Series championship in 2002 and 2003 with Mike Bliss and Travis Kvapil, respectively. The team was owned by Steve Coulter until 2004, when he sold the team to then team manager Dave Fuge, who owned the team until 2007 when the team was sold to J. B. Scott. In late 2009 the team was again sold to Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch. Beginnings Xpress was formed in 1996, when Coulter founded the team to promote his company, IWX Motor Freight. Randy Tolsma was hired to drive the No. 61 Chevrolet Silverado at Phoenix, and finished 29th after an early crash. Matt Crafton
Matthew Justin Crafton (born June 11, 1976) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He is a three-time champion of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (2013, 2014, 2019), in which he competes full-time, driving the No. 88 Ford F-150 for ThorSport Racing. Early career Crafton was born in Tulare, California. Before turning to NASCAR racing in 2000, he raced go-karts, midgets, and mini sprints. Crafton began his go-kart career at the age of seven after receiving a kart as a present for graduating from kindergarten. He won multiple national and regional championships before moving to midgets at the age of 15, winning twenty main events. Chad Chaffin
Chad Chaffin (born July 20, 1968) is an American former stock car racing driver. Chaffin has raced in all three of NASCAR's major series. He was a two-time track champion at the historic Nashville Speedway USA, where he met his friend, Andy Kirby. NASCAR career Sprint Cup Chad made his Sprint Cup debut in 2004 at Martinsville. Driving the No. 98 MACH 1 Motorsports Ford, he ran 100 laps before experiencing a mechanical failure and finished in 39th place. Lance Hooper
Lance Allen Hooper (born June 1, 1967) is a race car driver and crew chief in NASCAR as well as several touring divisions. Hooper attended his first race when he was just two weeks old, and also came from a long line of racing champions, including his uncle, father, and brother. Hooper last served as the driver and crew chief of the No. 44 Key Motorsports Chevy in the Truck Series in 2009. Racing career Hooper first began racing in 1990 in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, and was named Rookie of the Year at Saugus Speedway. He went on to win the track championship there the next two years. Tracy Hines
Tracy Lee Hines (born May 1, 1972) is an American professional stunt driver. He was the 2000 USAC Silver Crown Champion and 2002 USAC National Sprint Car Champion. He currently does not have a full-time ride in NASCAR as he competes for Tony Stewart Racing in three USAC series. NASCAR Hines made his first attempt at a Busch race in 2000, when he attempted to qualify for the Cheez-It 200 in a car owned by Jimmy Spencer. ThorSport Racing is an American professional stock car racing team that currently competes in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The team was founded in 1996 as SealMaster Racing and is based in Sandusky, Ohio. Owned by Duke Thorson and his wife Rhonda, it currently fields four full-time teams: the No. 13 for Hailie Deegan, the No. 66 for Ty Majeski, the No. 88 for Matt Crafton, and the No. 99 for Ben Rhodes. She was the only stock-car racer, male or female, known to race with multiple sclerosis before Trevor Bayne's diagnosis in 2013. David Starr (racing Driver)
David Leon Starr (born October 11, 1967) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 08 Ford Mustang for SS-Green Light Racing. He has also raced in the Camping World Truck Series, where he is a four-time race winner, and the NASCAR Cup Series in the past. Spears Motorsports was a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team owned by Wayne and Connie Spears of Agua Dulce, California. The team is most notable for its longevity in the Truck Series, running all but two races before their closure, their commitment to running with Chevrolet and for always running their white and blue No. 75. Wayne Spears is a 2009 inductee of the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame.
