2001 Philadelphia Eagles Season
The Philadelphia Eagles season was the franchise's 69th season in the National Football League, and the third under head coach Andy Reid. the team made the postseason for the second consecutive time. After defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wildcard round for the second year in a row, and the Chicago Bears in the divisional round, the Eagles advanced to the NFC Championship for the first time in 21 years, but lost 29–24 to the St. Louis Rams. The Rams advanced to the Super Bowl, but were unable to stop the New England Patriots, losing 20–17. This was the first of four consecutive NFC East titles for the Eagles. The National Football Conference – Eastern Division or NFC East is one of the four divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Derrick Burgess
Derrick Lee Burgess (born August 12, 1978) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for 10 seasons, primarily with the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders. He was selected by the Eagles in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft where he spent four seasons before joining Oakland. During his four seasons with the Raiders, he twice received Pro Bowl honors and led the league in sacks in 2005. The Arkansas Razorbacks football program represents the University of Arkansas in the sport of American football. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. Quinton Tyrone Caver ( born August 22, 1978) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, and Dallas Cowboys. He also was a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at the University of Arkansas. The UCLA Bruins football program represents the University of California, Los Angeles, in college football as members of the Pac-12 Conference at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level. Freddie Lee Mitchell II (born November 28, 1978) is a former American football wide receiver who played for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL) for four seasons. He was chosen as a consensus All-American in 2000 while playing college football for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Super Bowl XXXVI was an American football game between the National Football Conference (NFC) champion St. Louis Rams and the American Football Conference (AFC) champion New England Patriots to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 2001 season.
