2024 Louis Vuitton Cup
The 2024 Louis Vuitton Cup is a sailing competition held to determine the official challenger in the 2024 America's Cup yachting competition to challenge the defender Emirates Team New Zealand. The races were held from August 29 to October 7, 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. Teams Five teams competed for the title of challenger against defender Emirates Team New Zealand in the 2024 America's Cup. Emirates Team New Zealand took part in Round Robin races but was not part of the final Round Robin Classification. Double Round Robin Standings The qualification for the Semi-Final of the top four Challengers is based on their race results between each other. The team winning the round robins classification (excluding results with the defender) will be able to choose its opponent in the Semi-Final. 2024 America's Cup
The 2024 America's Cup was the 37th staging of the America's Cup yacht race. It was contested from 12 October 2024 as a first-to-seven-wins match-race series in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, between ''Taihoro'', representing the defender, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron; and ''Britannia'', representing the Royal Yacht Squadron of the United Kingdom, which won the Louis Vuitton Challenger Selections Series, also in Barcelona, on 4 October 2024. It was the first time the UK has sailed in an America's Cup match since 1964. Nathan James Outteridge (born 28 January 1986) is an Australian sailor, a resident of Lake Macquarie. Career highlights Olympics :2008 – Beijing Olympics 5th, 49er (with Ben Austin) :2012 – London Olympics 1st, 49er (with Iain Jensen ) :2016 – Rio Olympics 2nd, 49er (with Iain Jensen ) He is most famous for winning a gold medal at the London Olympics in the 49er class, along with Iain Jensen. Alinghi Red Bull Racing
Alinghi, or Alinghi Red Bull Racing because of the sports marketing branding by Red Bull, is the syndicate set up by Ernesto Bertarelli, racing under the colors of the Société Nautique de Genève, to challenge for the America's Cup, as well as other competitions. Bertarelli had raced several smaller yachts named ''Alinghi'' previously, but 2003 was his first attempt at the America's Cup. Alinghi challenged for and won the 2003 America's Cup in Auckland New Zealand and successfully defended it at the 2007 America's Cup in Valencia, Spain. Tom Slingsby (born 5 September 1984) is an Australian competitive sailor. Slingsby's first successes came sailing Laser dinghy, Laser dinghies, where he won three consecutive world championships and the 2012 Olympic gold medal. Terry Hutchinson (born May 20, 1968) is an American sailor eleven-time world champion in the Corel 45, J/24, TP 52, Farr 40 and IMS classes, and a winning tactician of the Louis Vuitton Cup.
