2024 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2024 Coastal Athletic Association men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's college basketball tournament for the Coastal Athletic Association for the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The tournament was held March 8–12, 2024, at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. The winner, 2023–24 Charleston Cougars men's basketball team, Charleston, received the conference's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, 2024 NCAA tournament. This was the first men's basketball tournament held under the Coastal Athletic Association name. Seeds All 14 CAA teams will participate in the tournament. Teams will be seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. Entertainment And Sports Arena
CareFirst Arena, formerly the Entertainment and Sports Arena, is a multi-purpose events facility, located on the St. Elizabeths Hospital, St. Elizabeths East Campus, in Congress Heights, a residential neighborhood in southeast Washington, D.C. The arena is home to the Washington Mystics of the Women's National Basketball Association, WNBA and the Capital City Go-Go of the NBA G League. In addition, it houses a practice facility for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association, NBA. The arena was officially opened on September 22, 2018. The arena officially rebranded to CareFirst Arena on February 6, 2025. The 2023–24 CAA men's basketball season was the 38th season of Coastal Athletic Association basketball, taking place between November 2023 and March 2024. The season ended with the 2024 CAA men's basketball tournament. This was the first season for the conference under the Coastal Athletic Association name. On July 20, 2023, the CAA announced it had changed its name from the Colonial Athletic Association to the Coastal Athletic Association. Tyler Thomas (born February 2, 2000) is an American basketball player who graduated from Hofstra University in 2024, and is now playing professionally in Hungary with Alba Fehérvár. Early life Thomas was born in New York City and has a younger brother, Tanner, who is also a basketball player. He attended Amity Regional High School. As a senior, Thomas led the team to the CIAC state championship game and was named the New Haven Register’s Area MVP, finishing his career with 1,531 points for the Spartans. Frankie Policelli
Frankie Andrew Policelli (born April 11, 2000) is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Valmiera Glass VIA of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League. He spent the majority of his college basketball career with the Stony Brook Seawolves, also playing a year for the Dayton Flyers and Charleston Cougars. Early life Policelli grew up in New Hartford, New York with his parents Angie and Frank. His father Frank is an attorney in Utica. Policelli began his high school career at New Hartford Senior High School, playing for head coach John Randall. He averaged 13.5 points per game as a freshman and 20.3 as a sophomore.
