2023 Grand Prix Of Espoo
The 2023 Grand Prix of Espoo will be the fifth event in the 2023–24 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It will be held at the Espoo Metro Areena in Espoo from November 17–19. Medals will be awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. Skaters will earn points toward qualifying for the 2023–24 Grand Prix Final. Entries The International Skating Union announced the preliminary assignments on June 28, 2023. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. Pair Skating
Pair skating is a figure skating discipline defined by the International Skating Union (ISU) as "the skating of two persons in unison who perform their movements in such harmony with each other as to give the impression of genuine Pair Skating as compared with independent Single Skating".S&P/ID 2021, p. 109 The ISU also states that a pairs team consists of "one Woman and one Man". Pair skating, along with men's and women's single skating, has been an Olympic discipline since figure skating, the oldest Winter Olympic sport, was introduced at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. The ISU World Figure Skating Championships introduced pair skating in 1908. Like the other disciplines, pair skating competitions consist of two segments, the short program and the free skating program. Kateřina Mrázková (born August 25, 2006) is a Czech ice dancer. With her brother and skating partner, Daniel Mrázek, she is the 2023 World Junior champion, the 2022–23 Junior Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, a two-time ISU Junior Grand Prix gold medalist, the 2023 Czech junior national champion, and holds the junior world record for the rhythm dance and combined total. Wang Lei (born July 11, 1988) is a Chinese pair skater. With Wang Xuehan, he is a bronze medalist at three Grand Prix events – 2014 Trophée Éric Bompard, 2014 Cup of China, and 2016 NHK Trophy – and the 2016 Chinese national champion.
