2022 United National Congress Leadership Election
The 2022 United National Congress leadership election took place on 26 June 2022. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, political leader of the United National Congress, Leader of the Opposition (Trinidad and Tobago), Leader of the Opposition of Trinidad and Tobago, former List of prime ministers of Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister, and Member of Parliament for Siparia, went up for re-election with her slate of candidates on the Star Team. The Star Team ran unopposed for all but three three post in the UNC's national executive. These three candidates were independent and were not part of a slate of candidates. Fuad Khan, former Minister of Health in Persad-Bissessar's government and the former Member of Parliament for Barataria/San Juan (parliamentary constituency), Barataria/San Juan challenged Persad-Bissessar for the post for political leader of the party. Vandana Mohit
Vandana Mohit (born 1991) is a Trinidad and Tobago politician from the United National Congress. She has been MP for Chaguanas East in the House of Representatives since 2020. Career Mohit formerly worked at the Social Development Ministry. Mohit first became a councillor at the age of 21. In 2019, Mohit became Mayor of Chaguanas. Caroni County
Caroni County was a historic county of Trinidad and Tobago. It occupies in the west central part of the island of Trinidad, the larger island in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It lies south and southwest of Saint George County, west of Nariva County and north of Victoria County. To the west it is bounded by the Gulf of Paria. Devant Maharaj
Devant Maharaj is a Trinidad and Tobago politician, and social activist. He is a leading member of the United National Congress. On 27 June 2011, he became a member of the Senate of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Minister of Transport following his appointment as Chairman of the Public Services Transport Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago.
