2022 Spielberg Formula 2 Round
The 2022 Spielberg FIA Formula 2 round was a motor racing event held between 8 and 10 July 2022 at the Red Bull Ring, Spielberg, Austria. It was the eighth round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship and was held in support of the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix. Driver changes Prior to the eighth round in Spielberg, Campos Racing announced on 6 July that Roberto Merhi would make his Formula 2 comeback by replacing Swiss driver Ralph Boschung due to the effects of a neck injury sustained at the third round in Imola. At the age of 31 years, Merhi became the oldest driver to compete in a Formula 2 round. In addition, Van Amersfoort Racing driver Amaury Cordeel made his comeback after his ban in the previous round in Silverstone following the collection of 12 penalty points. Red Bull Ring
The Red Bull Ring is a motorsport race track in Spielberg, Austria, Spielberg, Styria, Austria. The race circuit was founded as Österreichring (translation: Austrian Circuit) and hosted the Austrian Grand Prix for 18 consecutive years, from to . It was later shortened, rebuilt and renamed the A1-Ring (A Eins-Ring), and it hosted the Austrian Grand Prix again from to . When Formula One outgrew the circuit, a plan was drawn up to extend the layout. Parts of the circuit, including the pits and main grandstand, were demolished, but construction work was stopped and the circuit remained unusable for several years before it was purchased by Red Bull's Dietrich Mateschitz and rebuilt. Campos Racing
Campos Racing is a Spanish motor racing team, founded by former Formula One driver Adrián Campos. The team has been successful in Formula Three and the GP2 Series. History After retiring from racing, Campos formed his own team at the end of 1997, under the name Campos Motorsport. In 1998 the team began by competing in the new Open Fortuna by Nissan, with Marc Gené and Antonio García as drivers. Gené won the championship and García finished fifth, with Campos taking the teams title. Gené stepped up to Formula One in , and his place in the team was taken by karting driver Fernando Alonso. Jehan Daruvala (born 1 October 1998) is an Indian racing driver currently serving as a reserve driver for the Mahindra Racing Formula E team. He was a protégé of the Force India F1 team, after being one of three winners of a 'One in a Billion hunt' organized by the team in 2011. He is currently a member of the Red Bull Junior Team. Trident Racing is a motor racing team that competes in single-seater formula racing. It was founded in 2006 in order to compete in the GP2 championship, which was Europe's second highest-ranking single-seater formula below Formula One. Richard Verschoor (born 16 December 2000) is a Dutch racing driver set to compete for Van Amersfoort Racing in the Formula 2 Championship. Verschoor graduated to Formula 2 in 2021 with MP Motorsport before switching to Charouz Racing System, after two years in the FIA Formula 3 Championship with MP Motorsport. Verschoor became the first Dutch driver to win the Macau Grand Prix, winning at his first attempt in 2019. is a Japanese racing driver currently competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with DAMS. He previously raced in the FIA Formula 3 Championship with Hitech Grand Prix. The 2022 Silverstone FIA Formula 2 round was a motor racing event held between 1 and 3 July 2022 at Silverstone Circuit, Silverstone, United Kingdom. Jüri Vips (born 10 August 2000) is an Estonian professional racing driver, currently competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Hitech Grand Prix. He is the 2017 ADAC Formula 4 champion, and formerly a member of the Red Bull Junior Team. Career Karting Vips was born in Tallinn and began competitive karting in 2011 in his native Estonia.
