2022 Ryder Cup
The 44th Ryder Cup was a series of golf matches between teams representing the DP World Tour (Europe) and the PGA of America (United States) for the Ryder Cup, that was held in Italy from 29 September to 1 October 2023 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Guidonia Montecelio, northeast of Rome. The biennial event was originally scheduled for 2022, before the 2021 Ryder Cup, 43rd matches were postponed into 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team captains were Luke Donald for Europe and Zach Johnson for the United States; Donald replaced Henrik Stenson, who was removed from the role by the European Tour after joining LIV Golf. Each team of twelve players was made up of six automatic qualifiers and six captain's picks. The top thirteen players in the Official World Golf Ranking played in the event, the first time the entire top ten had done so since the inauguration of the rankings in 1986. Marco Simone Golf and Country Club (also known as Golf Marco Simone) is a golf course in Guidonia Montecelio, Guidonia, Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Rome, Italy. It is 10 miles from the city centre of Rome and has 2 golf courses, an 18-hole Championship Course and a 9-hole Resort Course. It hosted the 2023 Ryder Cup. History The golf club was named after the castle of Marco Simone. The castle was a Roman Empire, Roman fortified Manor house, manor farm. The tower was built approximately in the year 1000 and later in the Middle Ages additional buildings built around it. Match play is a scoring system for golf in which a player, or team, earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponents; as opposed to stroke play, in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. Collin Morikawa (born February 6, 1997) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Brooks Koepka
Brooks Koepka ( ; born May 3, 1990) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the LIV Golf League. He formerly played on the PGA Tour and has won five major championships, the PGA Championship three times (2018, 2019, 2023) and the U.S. Open twice (2017, 2018). The 2023 PGA Championship was the 105th PGA Championship. It was a 72-hole stroke play tournament played on May 18–21 on the East Course of Oak Hill Country Club in Pittsford, New York. Brooks Koepka finished at nine under for the tournament to win his third career PGA Championship and fifth major championship by two shots over Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler. Koepka joined Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only players to win three PGA titles in the stroke-play era and became the 20th player to win five majors. Ludvig Noa Åberg (born 31 October 1999) is a Swedish professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and European Tour. Brian Eric Harman (born January 19, 1987) is an American professional golfer from Savannah, Georgia. 2018 Ryder Cup
The 42nd Ryder Cup Matches were held in France from 28 to 30 September 2018 on the Albatros Course of Le Golf National in Guyancourt, a suburb southwest of Paris. It was the second Ryder Cup to be held in Continental Europe (rather than Great Britain or Ireland), after the 1997 contest, which was held in Spain.
