General elections were held in Qatar for the first time on 2 October 2021, following an announcement by the Emir of Qatar on 22 August 2021. Consultative Assembly Of Qatar
The Consultative Assembly (; also known as the Shura Council) is the unicameral legislative body of the State of Qatar. As of the 2021 Qatari general election, last election, it consists of 45 members, made up of 30 elected representatives and 15 appointees of the Emir of Qatar, Emir. The body can call a Motion of no confidence, vote of no confidence against the appointed Prime Minister, though this requires a Supermajority#Two-thirds, two-thirds supermajority, which is also necessary to oppose legislative action carried out by the Prime Minister. Constitutional role The Council was formed in April 1972 with 20 appointed members. In May 1972, the first consultative assembly meeting was held, during which Sayed Aziz bin Khalid Al Ghanim was elected as the assembly's first chairman. Al Bidda
Al Bidda () is a neighborhood of Doha, Qatar. In the 19th century It was the largest town in Qatar, before Doha, an offshoot of Al Bidda, grew in prominence. Al Bidda was incorporated as a district in the Doha municipality in the late 20th century. Qatar's Amiri Diwan (Presidential Office) has been based in Al Bidda since 1915, after being converted from an abandoned Ottoman fort. Etymology ''Bidda'' is derived from the Arabic word ''badaa'', meaning "to invent". When the previously uninhabited area first became populated, a settlement was essentially invented, hence the name. Al Jasrah () is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. It hosts Souq Waqif, one of the largest souqs in Qatar. Other points of interest in the district include Souq Jaidah, the Souq Waqif Falcon Hospital, the Souq Waqif Horse Stables, Abdul Aziz Nasser Theatre, Waqif Art Centre, Al Koot Fort (also known as Doha Fort) and Doha Fort Museum. Most of its landmarks are accessible through Al Souq Street, Souq Waqif Street and Al Jasra Street. Mushayrib
Mushayrib (; also spelled Musheireb) is a Qatari district located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. As of the 2010 census, the former district of Al Asmakh has been integrated into Mushayrib. It is one of the oldest districts of Doha, and contains Al Kahraba Street (also called Electricity Street), the country's first fully lit street. History In J. G. Lorimer's '' Gazetteer of the Persian Gulf'' first published in 1908, Mushayrib was described as a place where the town of Al Bidda obtained its water supply from, but described the water as brackish and scanty. Lorimer noted that it appeared to accommodate one of the only seven sizable date palm plantations in Qatar. The majority of Mushayrib's residents are expat workers. Old Al Ghanim
Old Al Ghanim () is a neighborhood of the Qatari capital Doha, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. It forms a part of Doha's historic downtown. A notable landmark was the New World Centre, a supermarket established in 1987. It has since been relocated. Al Mirqab (; also referred to as Fereej Al Mirqab) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. Together with As Salatah, it makes up Qatar's Zone 18, with a population of 692 people. History Al Mirqab was first mentioned J.G. Lorimer's Gazetteer of the Persian Gulf written in 1907.
