2020–21 Green Bay Phoenix Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team represented the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Phoenix, led by first-year head coach Will Ryan (basketball), Will Ryan, played their home games at the Kress Events Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin as members of the Horizon League. The Phoenix finished the season 8–17, 8–12 in Horizon League play, to finish in ninth place. Will Ryan (basketball)
William Francis Ryan III (born July 8, 1978) is an American basketball coach who is the former head coach of the Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team. Early life and education Ryan is a native of Platteville, Wisconsin. He began his college basketball career at Wisconsin–Platteville. He helped the team win two Division III championships in 1998 and 1999. Ryan transferred to Milwaukee and played his senior season under Bruce Pearl. Ryan graduated from Milwaukee in December 2002 with a bachelor's degree in educational studies and youth leadership. Coaching career Ryan served on his father's staff at Wisconsin as director of basketball operations and video coordinator from 2002 to 2007. He was head coach of the Wisconsin Swing AAU club in 2005. He was an assistant at North Dakota State under Saul Phillips from 2007 to 2014. Williams Arena
Williams Arena is an indoor arena located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is the home arena for the University of Minnesota's men's and women's basketball teams. It also housed the men's hockey team until 1993, when it moved into its own building, 3M Arena at Mariucci. The building is popularly known as The Barn, and its student section is known as "The Barnyard". The 2020–21 Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team represented the University of Minnesota in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Gophers were led by eighth-year head coach Richard Pitino and played their home games at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota as members of the Big Ten Conference. The Gophers finished the season 14–15, 6–14 in Big Ten play to finish in 13th place. They defeated Northwestern in the first round of the Big Ten tournament before losing to Ohio State in the second round. Following the season, the school fired Richard Pitino after eight years at the school.
