2017 National Arena League Season
The 2017 National Arena League season was the inaugural season of the National Arena League (NAL). Playing with eight teams spread across the eastern and southern United States (with one team in Mexico), the league's regular season kicked off on March 17, 2017, when the Columbus Lions hosted the Jacksonville Sharks and lost 41–56. The regular season ended 14 weeks later on June 17, 2017, with the Sharks hosting the Monterrey Steel and the Lions visiting the Georgia Firebirds. The playoffs were held in two rounds, with the top seed hosting the fourth seed and the second seed hosting the third seed, with the winners of these games facing in the 2017 NAL Championship hosted by the highest remaining seed. National Arena League
The National Arena League (NAL) is a professional indoor football league that began play in 2017. As of the end of the 2024 season, the league consisted of five teams. A team's typical payroll budget is $600,000 per season, but as of the 2022 season, there is no salary cap limit. Players are usually paid $200 per week (before taxes), and veterans can make $225 with the potential raises for loyalty on a year-by-year basis. Additionally, $50 bonus is given to players on the winning team each week. Some teams also provide housing for their players during the season. Teams' estimated annual revenue is between $500,000 and $800,000 a year. Siaha Burley (born July 16, 1977) is an American former professional football wide receiver who played in the Arena Football League (AFL). He played college football at UCF. He was the head coach of the Jacksonville Sharks from 2017 to 2019 and in 2022. Early life Burley attended Westwood High School in Mesa and was a letterman in football, basketball, and track.
