2012–13 Ohio Vortex Season
The 2012–13 Ohio Vortex season was the fourth season of the Ohio Vortex indoor soccer club. The Vortex, an Eastern Division team in the Professional Arena Soccer League, played the majority of their home games at the Pinnacle Sports Complex in Medina, Ohio. The team was led by executive director Jodi Wayble and head coach Denzil Antonio. Season summary The Vortex struggled in the regular season, posting a 1–15 record, and failed to advance to the postseason. The team won only one game, against the Illinois Piasa, before dropping the final 13 matches giving the franchise the longest losing streak in the league this season. The franchise struggled off the field as well, drawing only an average of 210 fans per home game, besting just the two Arizona-based teams. Ohio Vortex
Ohio Vortex was an American professional indoor soccer team based in Canton, Ohio. They joined the Professional Arena Soccer League in 2009. The Ohio Vortex was a non-profit organization that donates a portion of their revenue to local charities. The team was founded by former Canton Invaders player Nick Bogdan. The Ohio Vortex ended their inaugural season 8-8. The club was coached by Canton Invaders legend Denzil Antonio. The team shut down after the 2012–13 Ohio Vortex season, 2012–13 season. Year-by-year History The Ohio Vortex could have continued the tradition that its predecessor had by calling themselves the Canton Invaders. However, founder Nick Bogdan wanted a unique name and not one that has been recycled by other sports teams. The team got its Vortex name as a result of the charity work that it does. The Cincinnati Kings Indoor Team was an American indoor soccer, arena soccer team founded in 2008. Many of the team's initial personnel came from the Cincinnati Excite of the American Indoor Soccer League. North American Soccer League (2011–2017)
The North American Soccer League (NASL) was a professional men's soccer league based in the United States. The league was named for, but had no connection to, the original North American Soccer League. The later NASL was founded in 2009, and began play in 2011 with eight teams. From 2013 through 2017, the NASL used a split-season schedule running from April to early November, with a four-week break in July. The spring and fall champions, along with the two teams with best combined spring/fall records met in a four-team single-elimination tournament known as ''The Championship''. The Puerto Rico Islanders were a professional association football team based in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. They played in several different leagues from 2004 to 2012, when they suspended operations.
