2011 Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe
The 2011 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe was a horse race held at Longchamp on Sunday 2 October 2011. It was the 90th running of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. The winner was Danedream, a three-year-old filly trained in Germany by Peter Schiergen. The winning jockey was Andrasch Starke. Danedream was the second German-trained horse to win the "Arc". The only prior victory was that of Star Appeal in 1975. The winning time of 2m 24.49s set a new record for the event. The previous record of 2m 24.60s was achieved by Peintre Celebre in 1997. Longchamp Racecourse
The Longchamp Racecourse (, ) is a 57 hectare horse-racing facility located on the Route des Tribunes at the Bois de Boulogne in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, 16th arrondissement of Paris, France. It is used for flat racing and is noted for its variety of interlaced tracks and a famous hill that provides a real challenge to competing thoroughbreds. It has several racetracks varying from 1,000 to 4,000 metres in length, with 46 different starting posts. Ed Dunlop
Edward A. L. Dunlop (born 20 October 1968) is a British thoroughbred racehorse trainer. Dunlop is the son of British champion trainer John Dunlop. He was educated at Sunningdale School and Eton College. He began his career on stud farms in Ireland and Kentucky before completing the National Stud student course in Sydney, Australia. Upon returning to Britain he spent three years as assistant to Nicky Henderson, then joined Alex Scott at his Newmarket Stables. When Scott was murdered in 1994 Dunlop took over and renamed the business Gainsborough Stables. The new stable had its first winner on 19 October 1994 and since then has sent entrants to races as far-flung as Istanbul, Dubai, Milan, Ireland and the United States. Christophe Lemaire
Christophe Patrice Lemaire (Japanese:, born 20 May 1979) is a French-born jockey. He has enjoyed much of his success on the Japanese flat racing circuit, with the most wins at Japan Racing Association racetracks for five consecutive years since 2017. Career Lemaire began racing in 1999, after he obtained the license required for a French jockey. From there, he has steadily built up a good track record, becoming the seventh leading jockey in 2003, and winning the French Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris in the same year. Sarafina (horse)
Sarafina (foaled 19 April 2007) is a French Thoroughbred racehorse and Horse breeding#Terminology, broodmare that was rated one of the best female racehorses in the world in 2010 and 2011. As a three-year-old she won her first three races including the Prix Saint-Alary and Prix de Diane before finishing third in both the Prix Vermeille and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. In the following year she took the Prix Corrida, Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and Prix Foy but was beaten when favourite for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and Breeders' Cup Turf. She was retired from racing at the end of that year and exported to become a broodmare in Japan. André Fabre (; born 9 December 1945) is a French thoroughbred horse racing horse trainer, trainer. The son of a diplomat, Fabre graduated from university with a law degree but then decided to pursue a career in thoroughbred horse racing. He began by working in the stables as a groom then as a schooling rider. He became France's leading steeplechase (horse racing), jump jockey, winning more than two hundred and fifty races including the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris. When he turned to training horses, Fabre proved even more successful, first with jump horses then with flat racing, flat racers. Joseph Patrick O'Brien (born 23 May 1993) is an Ireland, Irish horse racing horse trainer, trainer and former flat racing jockey. He is the son of trainer Aidan O'Brien. In 2012 he rode Camelot (horse), Camelot to win the 2,000 Guineas Stakes, 2,000 Guineas, the 2012 Epsom Derby and the Irish Derby. St Nicholas Abbey (horse)
St Nicholas Abbey (13 April 2007 – 14 January 2014) was an Irish thoroughbred racehorse. He was the leading European two-year-old of 2009 and recovered from a disappointing three-year-old season to win the Coronation Cup and the Breeders' Cup Turf in 2011. He won the Coronation Cup for a second time in 2012 and the Dubai Sheema Classic in 2013. In June 2013 he won the Coronation Cup for an unprecedented third time. He was briefly the biggest money-winning racehorse trained in Europe. His career was ended prematurely due to injury in July 2013, and he was euthanized on 14 January 2014 while undergoing colic surgery.
