2010 Bahrain International Circuit GP2 Asia Series Round (March)
The 2009-10 Bahrain 2nd GP2 Asia round was the fourth and final round of the 2009-10 GP2 Asia Series season. It was held on March 13 and 14, 2010 at Bahrain International Circuit at Sakhir, Bahrain. It was the second of two rounds to be held at the circuit, the other being the 2009-10 Bahrain 1st GP2 Asia round. This event will support the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix, and therefore use a different layout to an earlier race in the series, The Endurance Circuit. Luca Filippi started from pole position, won the race (first win for MalaysiaQi-Meritus.com and set fastest lap, forming a perfect weekend. Sprint race was won by Filippi's countryman Giacomo Ricci, which also brought the first victory for his team DPR. This was the last race for the original GP2 car, the Dallara GP2/05, as it was replaced by the Dallara GP2/11 for 2011. Bahrain International Circuit
The Bahrain International Circuit () is a motorsport venue opened in 2004 and used for drag racing, GP2 Series (now FIA Formula 2 Championship, FIA Formula 2), and the annual Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix. The 2004 Formula One season, 2004 Grand Prix was the first held in the Middle East. Beginning in 2006, Australian V8 Supercars raced at the BIC, with the event known as the Desert 400. However, the V8 Supercars did not return for the 2011 V8 Supercar season. 24 Hour endurance races are also hosted at BIC. The circuit has a FIA Grade 1 license. The circuit also has multiple layouts. 2009-10 Bahrain 1st GP2 Asia Round
The 2009–10 Bahrain 1st GP2 Asia round was the third round of the 2009-10 GP2 Asia Series season. It was held on February 26 and 27, 2010 at Bahrain International Circuit at Sakhir, Bahrain, together with 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series 2010 Desert 400. It was the first of two rounds to be held at the circuit, the other being the 2009-10 Bahrain 2nd GP2 Asia round. The layout used for this Race will not be used for the following event, as it acts as a F1 Support race. Michael Herck
Michael Herck (born 4 August 1988 in Bucharest, Romania) is a Romanian- Belgian retired racing driver. Career Early life Herck was adopted at the age of one and a half years by millionaire André Herck, a Belgian citizen born in Bucharest. Herck grew up in Monaco, and began his racing career in karting in France where he won the French national titke in the Minime category in 2000. Formula Renault After karting, Herck moved to the Formula Renault Monza Winter Series in 2003 and competed in the full series the next year. He won the 2004 championship with five wins and 375 points. He also competed in the Belgian and Spanish 1.6-litre series in 2004, winning the latter championship. Ocean Racing Technology
Ocean Racing Technology (ORT) was a racing team that took part in both the GP2 Main Series and the GP2 Asia Series Championships. The team, owned by Tiago Monteiro and José Guedes, was formed at the end of the 2008 season after being purchased from BCN Competición. The driver and the entrepreneur created a structure based on recognized professionals and quickly started to secure first-class results, making it possible for the Portuguese Racing team to fight with the more advanced teams in the FIA accredited championship that is the main feeder series for Formula One. Fabio Leimer (born 17 April 1989) is a former professional Auto racing, racing driver from Switzerland. He is best known for winning the 2013 GP2 Series. Career Karting Like many of today's racing drivers, Rothrist-born Leimer started his career in karting back in 2003, when he won the Swiss Junior Championship. Javier Villa García (born 5 October 1987) is a Spanish former racing driver living in Arriondas, Asturias, Spain. He drove in the GP2 Series from 2006 towards 2009.
