The 2006 Formula V6 Asia Series was the first season of the Formula V6 Asia, series. The season started on May 13–14 in Sepang International Circuit, Sepang and ended on October 21–22 in Zhuhai International Circuit, Zuhai. Formula Asia V6 Renault, renamed Formula V6 Asia in 2007 by Motorsport Asia, was launched in 2006 Formula V6 Asia by Renault season, 2006 and regulated by Motorsport Asia. It was a Formula Renault, Formula Renault 3.5 that include also World Series by Renault and the former Formula Renault V6 Eurocup. For the first time, Southeast Asian-based drivers were able to progress from karting, through the ranks of junior single seaters, and step up to a programme specifically designed to groom them for the pinnacle of international motorsport. This Series was the latest addition to the Championships already organised by Motorsport Asia, namely the Asian Touring Car Series, Asian Touring Car Championship, Formula BMW, Formula BMW Asia and the Porsche Carrera Cup, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in the region's leading motorsport event, the Asian Festival of Speed. Sentul International Circuit
Sentul International Circuit is a 50,000-capacity permanent motor racing circuit located at Sentul City, Babakan Madang, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia, near the toll gate of Jakarta towards Bogor city and areas at the foot of Jonggol Mountains Its pit facilities have easy access to the Jagorawi Toll Road. The current circuit is a truncated version of the original design. Approximately 40% shorter than the original, the circuit runs clockwise and is predominantly used for motorcycle racing and the Asian F3 series. Sentul is a relatively simple, smooth, broad track with large runoff areas, enabling non-bumpy and smooth driving at racing speeds. Sentul City (previously Bukit Sentul) is a modern housing area situated at Sentul, Babakan Madang, Bogor Regency, in West Java, Indonesia. Matthew Halliday (racing Driver)
Matthew Brent Halliday (born 14 July 1979) is a motor racing driver. He was born in Auckland, New Zealand. Single seater racing Halliday's formula racing career has involved various single seater series in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the United States. Following two seasons in the Formula Holden category contesting the Australian Drivers' Championship in 1999 and 2000, he moved to the United States and ran in both the Indy Lights and Toyota Atlantic series in 2001. In 2002 he moved to the Infiniti Pro Series but was injured after two races. He finished 3rd and 4th in the inaugural A1 Grand Prix races at Brands Hatch in 2005 went on to have a very successful season with A1 Team New Zealand. He ran the first three races of the 2007 Champ Car World Series season for Conquest Racing however his sponsorship ended after three races and he was replaced by Jan Heylen.
