2004 Arkhangelsk Apartment Explosion
On March 16, 2004, an explosion destroyed a corner section of a nine-storey Soviet-era apartment building in Arkhangelsk, Russia. It happened at 3:03 a.m. local time (UTC +3). The explosion occurred in 120 Avenue of the Soviet Cosmonauts in the October district (''Oktyabrskiy rayon'') of Arkhangelsk. The death toll from the explosion was 58 (33 women, 16 men and 9 children). Two of the dead succumbed to their wounds in a hospital after being rescued. The explosion came two days after Vladimir Putin won reelection and several weeks after a suicide bombing killed 41 Moscow Metro passengers. In April 2004, authorities arrested and charged 26-year-old former employee of city gas services Sergey Alekseychik. On December 16, 2005, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison. The February 2004 Moscow metro bombing occurred on 6 February 2004 when a male suicide bomber killed 41 people near Avtozavodskaya subway station on the Zamoskvoretskaya Line in Moscow. Up to 250 people were injured in the incident, some of the more common injuries being broken bones and smoke inhalation. Attack The blast occurred at about 08:32 MSK on 6 February 2004 inside a subway car while it was moving in the tunnel near Avtozavodskaya station, on the metro system's Zamoskvoretskaya Line. Arkhangelsk FSB Office Bombing
The Arkhangelsk FSB office bombing was a suicide bombing that occurred in Arkhangelsk, Russia. On the morning of 31 October 2018, Mikhail Vasilievich Zhlobitsky, a 17-year old tekhnikum student entered the local office of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and pulled a manually controlled Improvised explosive device from under his clothes and detonated it. He died on the spot and the explosion injured three local FSB officers. Motive Minutes before the explosion, a post was submitted to an anarcho-communist themed online chat on Telegram by a user under the alias "Sergey Nechayev" who used the logo of the Red Army Faction as his avatar, stating he was going to bomb the Arkhangelsk FSB office in retaliation against the torture of Russian anarchists and anti-fascists.
