Rochdale ( ) is a town in Greater Manchester, England, and the administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale. In the United Kingdom 2021 Census, 2021 Census, the town had a population of 111,261, compared to 223,773 for the wider borough. Rochdale is in the foothills of the South Pennines and lies in the Dale (landform), dale (valley) of the River Roch, north-west of Oldham and north-east of Manchester. Simon Coleman (born 13 June 1968) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. Alan McLoughlin
Alan Francis McLoughlin (20 April 1967 – 4 May 2021) was an Irish professional footballer and coach, who played as a midfielder for the Republic of Ireland and various English club sides, most notably Swindon Town and Portsmouth. His most notable moment at international level was scoring the equaliser against Northern Ireland in Belfast that qualified the Republic of Ireland for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Dave Bayliss
David Anthony Bayliss (born 8 June 1976) is an English football scout. He previously played in defence, and was manager at Barrow. Career Born in Liverpool, Merseyside, Bayliss joined Rochdale and progressed through the ranks, making his Football League debut in the 1994–95 season. He went on to make 186 league appearances for them, scoring nine times, before joining Luton Town during 2001–02. He spent four seasons at Kenilworth Road, making 37 league appearances and also had nine games on loan to Chester City before being released in the summer of 2005. He spent the next season with Wrexham making 22 league appearances and he also had a four-game loan spell back at Rochdale. Paul David Simpson (born 26 July 1966) is an English former professional footballer who is the assistant manager of the Jamaica senior national team. He has been a coach and manager at several English clubs and was manager of the England team that won the FIFA Under-20s World Cup in South Korea in 2017. Lee Todd (born 7 March 1972) is an English retired professional footballer who played as a defender. Playing career Todd started his career in 1988 as a junior with Hartlepool United with whom he stayed until 1990. In the summer of 1990 Todd transferred to Stockport County on a free transfer. Lee spent seven years at Stockport notching up a total of 226 league appearances including two promotions and a League Cup Semi-Final appearance. In 1997 Todd was bought by his former Stockport County manager Dave Jones who was now managing Southampton paying £850,000 for his services. Matthew Liam Doughty (born 2 November 1981) is an English former professional football player and manager. He started his professional career at Chester City, but whilst at the club he was sent to prison for four months following an incident outside a nightclub in Warrington, this meant he missed Chester City's last game in the Football League before they were relegated. In 2001, he joined Rochdale where he spent three seasons before moving on to play for Halifax Town and Altrincham respectively. In 2010, he moved to Witton Albion before joining Hyde in March 2011. Michael Oliver (born 2 August 1975) is an English former footballer who made 276 appearances in the Football League playing as a midfielder for Stockport County, Darlington and Rochdale in the 1990s and 2000s.
