Chambéry
Chambéry (, , ; Arpitan: ''Chambèri'') is the prefecture of the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of eastern France. The population of the commune of Chambéry was 58,917 as of 2019, while the population of the Chambéry metropolitan area was 253,430. It has been the historical capital of the Savoy region since the 13th century, when Amadeus V, Count of Savoy, made the city his seat of power. Together with other alpine towns Chambéry engages in the Alpine Town of the Year Association for the implementation of the Alpine Convention to achieve sustainable development in the Alpine Arc. Chambéry was awarded Alpine Town of the Year 2006. Catherine Marsal
Catherine Marsal (born 20 January 1971) is a French former racing cyclist. She has been World Champion four times and raced professionally around the world. At the age of 17 she was selected for the French Olympic Team for the first time. Since then, she represented her native country at four Summer Olympics: 1988, 1992, 1996, and 2000. Marsal retired from cycling in 2005 when she was recruited by Team SATS Cycling to become sports director for the Danish team. The team became number one on the UCI ranking. In April 2015 Marsal was hired by the Danish Cycling Union to be the national coach of the Danish female cycling team. Marsal currently works as a directeur sportif for UCI Women's Continental Team . Maria Canins (born 5 July 1949, in La Villa, Alta Badia) is an Italian racing cyclist who twice won and came second three times in the Grande Boucle. She rode for Italy at the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics. Biography Canins was a cross-country skier from 1969 to 1988.
