Elections for the 12th Knesset were held in Israel on 1 November 1988. 1984 Israeli Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Israel on 23 July 1984 to elect the eleventh Knesset. Voter turnout was 78.8%. The results saw the Alignment return to being the largest party in the Knesset, a status it had lost in 1977 Israeli legislative election, 1977. However, the party could not form a government with any of the smaller parties, resulting in a grand coalition government with Likud, with both party leaders, Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Shamir, holding the post of Prime Minister of Israel, Prime Minister for two years each. Avraham Ravitz
Avraham Ravitz (; 13 January 1934 – 26 January 2009) was an Israeli politician and member of the Knesset for Degel HaTorah, which forms part of the United Torah Judaism alliance. Biography Ravitz was born in 1934 in the Montefiore neighborhood of Tel Aviv to Hadassah and rabbi Aryeh Leib Ravitz, who had served as a neighborhood rabbi and head of the Rabbinical Court in Tel Aviv-Jaffa for many decades. Like his father, he studied at Hebron Yeshiva from the age of 13 for 13 intermittent years and received rabbinical ordination from there. He also studied for about a year at the Slabodka Yeshiva. In the year before Israel's independence, he joined the Lehi organization with several of his yeshiva friends. Later, he stated that the assassination of Lehi commander Avraham Stern was the reason for his joining the underground movement. Afterwards, he served in the IDF. Labor Zionism () or socialist Zionism () is the left-wing, socialist variant of Zionism. Alignment (Israel)
The Alignment () was the name of two political alliances in Israel, both of which ended their existence by merging, in January 1968 and October 1991, into the Israeli Labor Party. The first Alignment was a 1965 alliance of Mapai and Ahdut HaAvoda. The two parties continued to exist independently, but submitted joint electoral lists. Often called the Labor Alignment, the alliance lasted three years until a merger with Rafi (political party), Rafi in 1968 created the unitary Israeli Labor Party. The following year the Labor Party formed an alliance with Mapam, readopting the Alignment name. The two constituent parties remained separate, but with combined electoral campaigns and candidate lists. The second version of the Alignment lasted for more than two decades. In music theory, an eleventh is a compound interval consisting of an octave plus a fourth. A perfect eleventh spans 17 and the augmented eleventh 18 semitones, or 10 steps in a diatonic scale. Yitzhak Shamir (1980)
Yitzhak Shamir (, ; born Yitzhak Yezernitsky; October 22, 1915 – June 30, 2012) was an Israeli politician and the seventh prime minister of Israel, serving two terms (1983–1984, 1986–1992). Before the establishment of the State of Israel, Shamir was a leader of the Zionist militant group Lehi, also known as the Stern Gang. Yitzhak Shamir grew up in interwar Poland. Shamir joined Betar, the paramilitary wing of Revisionist Zionist Ze'ev Jabotinsky's Hatzohar political party. In 1935, Shamir emigrated from Białystok to British Palestine, where he worked in an accountant's office. Shamir joined the Revisionist Zionist Irgun paramilitary group led by Menachem Begin. During World War II the Irgun split over the question of whether to support the Axis Powers against the British Empire.
