The 1988 Chicago White Sox season was the White Sox's 89th season. American League West
The American League West is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. The division has five teams as of the 2013 season, but had four teams from 1994 to 2012, and had as many as seven teams before the 1994 realignment. Although its teams currently only reside along the West Coast of the United States, west coast and in Texas, historically the division has had teams as far east as Chicago. From 1998 (when the NL West expanded to five teams) to 2012, the AL West was the only MLB division with four teams. The current champion of this division is the Houston Astros. Richard Dotson
Richard Elliott Dotson (born January 10, 1959) is a former right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball in the 1980s. He is best noted for his 22-7 performance of , helping the Chicago White Sox win the American League West Division championship that season. Dotson finished fourth in the American League Cy Young Award voting, behind teammate LaMarr Hoyt. Arm injuries came to limit, however, what was a promising baseball career. In a 12-season career, Rich Dotson recorded a record of 111-113 with a 4.23 ERA in 305 games, 295 of them starts. He pitched 55 complete games and 11 shutouts in his career. Dotson gave up 872 earned runs and struck out 973 in innings pitched. Dotson was born in Cincinnati and attended Anderson High School. Rodney Duncan McCray (born September 13, 1963) is an American former professional baseball player who is best known for crashing through an outfield fence attempting to make a catch. He played mostly in the minors, but also made it to the majors with the Chicago White Sox and New York Mets from 1990 to 1992. Early life and career Born in Detroit, McCray's family moved west while he was still a child. He enrolled at University High in Los Angeles, then attended West Los Angeles Junior College and Santa Monica Junior College. Salas, who is of Mexican descent, also worked for the Chicago White Sox as a bullpen catcher. St. Louis Cardinals Salas was drafted out of Nogales High School in La Puente, California by the St. Louis Cardinals in the eighteenth round of the 1979 Major League Baseball draft. Steven Allen Rosenberg (born October 31, 1964) is an American former Major League Baseball left-handed pitcher who played for the Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres from 1988 to 1991. Early years Rosenberg was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Coral Springs, Florida. He played football, basketball and baseball at Coral Springs High School, and played baseball at Broward Community College for two years before transferring to the University of Florida as a junior. After the 1985 season, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League and was named a league all-star.
