1977–78 QMJHL Season
The 1977–78 QMJHL season was the ninth season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The league inaugurates two awards, the Robert Lebel Trophy for the team with best goals against average, and the Guy Lafleur Trophy for the Most Valuable Player of the playoffs. Ten teams played 72 games each in the schedule. The Trois-Rivières Draveurs finished first overall in the regular season winning the Jean Rougeau Trophy, and won the President's Cup defeating the Montreal Juniors in the finals. Richard David (born April 8, 1958) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger. He played for the Quebec Nordiques in the National Hockey League, and the World Hockey Association between 1978 and 1983. Rick Paterson
David Rick Paterson (born February 10, 1958) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey player and coach. He played 430 games in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Black Hawks from 1979 through 1987. After leaving Chicago, he worked as Assistant Coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins from 1988 through 1993, winning the Stanley Cup in 1991 and 1992. He was named interim coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1997. The team went 0–8–0 under Paterson. He was later named chief professional scout for the Tampa Bay Lightning before their 2002–03 season and won the Stanley Cup with the team in 2004. Daniel Jean-Paul "Danny" Geoffrion (born January 24, 1958) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 111 games in the National Hockey League and 78 in the World Hockey Association. He played with the original Winnipeg Jets, Montreal Canadiens, and Quebec Nordiques. As a youth, he played in the 1971 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Dorval, Quebec. Richard Claude "Rick" Vaive (; born May 14, 1959) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played in the final season of the World Hockey Association (WHA), before playing the majority of his career in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1979 to 1992. He is the first 50-goal scorer in Toronto Maple Leafs franchise history. Mark Green (ice Hockey)
Mark R. Green (December 26, 1967 – October 5, 2004) was an Americans, American professional ice hockey player who played 10 seasons in various North American minor leagues. He was chosen in the ninth round by the Winnipeg Jets (1972–96), Winnipeg Jets, 176th overall in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. Career High school Green began his career in Watertown minor hockey. By his sophomore year in high school, Green was a top scorer for the Watertown Cyclones. As a sophomore, he led Section 3 in scoring with 86 points. The following year, he led Section 3 with 40 goals and 68 points. He was named to the Empire State Games roster three straight years, and left Watertown High School after three years to attend New Hampton prep school, finishing with 110 career goals and 181 career points for the Cyclones. Sylvain Locas
Sylvain Locas (born February 17, 1958 in Chicoutimi, Quebec) is a former professional ice hockey centre. Prior to turning professional Locas played four seasons (1974–78) in the QMJHL with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens and Sherbrooke Beavers. Locas was drafted in the sixth round by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft but never managed to play in the National Hockey League. Locas played 75 games of professional hockey in the CHL with the Kansas City Red Wings, 36 games in the AHL with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs and Adirondack Red Wings, and 25 games in the IHL with the Kalamazoo Wings and Milwaukee Admirals before retiring from professional hockey in 1980.
