The 1962–63 season of the European Cup Winners' Cup football club tournament was won by Tottenham Hotspur in a crushing final victory over holders Atlético Madrid. It was the first time a European cup went to an English club. The so-called "winner's curse" continued as Spurs failed to retain the cup in 1964. Danny Blanchflower
Robert Dennis Blanchflower (10 February 1926 – 9 December 1993) was a former Northern Ireland footballer, football manager and journalist who played for and captained Tottenham Hotspur, including during their double-winning season of 1960–61. He was ranked as the greatest player ever in Spurs history by ''The Times'' in 2009. Blanchflower played as a defensive midfielder at right half and was known particularly for his accurate passing, his ability to dictate the tempo of the game and his inspiring leadership. After a lengthy playing career, he retired at the age of 38. He became a respected football journalist and, later, a football manager. Boldklubben 1909, known as B1909, is a Danish association football club currently playing in the Denmark Series. They play at Gillested Park in Odense on Funen, which has a capacity of 6,000. Founded in 1909, the club spent a total 38 seasons in the Danish championship from 1912 to 1993, and won the 1959 and 1964 Danish 1st Division championships, as well as the 1962 and 1971 Danish Cup trophies. In the 2006–07 season, the first team of B1909 merged with B 1913 and Dalum IF, to form FC Fyn. B 1909's new first team continued in the Danish league system, but had to stay two leagues below FC Fyn. Georgi Asparuhov
Georgi Asparuhov Rangelov ( bg, Георги Аспарухов Рангелов; 4 May 1943 – 30 June 1971), nicknamed Gundi, was a Bulgarian footballer who played as a striker. A prolific forward of his generation, Asparuhov was renowned for his finishing, technique and heading ability. Gheorghe Constantin (14 December 1932 – 9 March 2010) was a Romanian former footballer and coach. Known as ''The Professor'', he was a symbol of Steaua București. Club career Constantin made his debut for Unirea Tricolor's youth team, and shortly after their abolition he signed with Venus UCB. He played only a year for his new club, before moving to Avântul Reghin and then CFR Iaşi before he signed a contract with Steaua București. He played for Steaua 15-years, scoring 149 goals in Divizia A. Romanian Communist authorities allow him to play abroad for Kayserispor in Turkey. Florea Voinea (born 21 April 1941) is a Romanian retired footballer who played as a striker. Club career Florea Voinea was born on 21 April 1941 in Puchenii Moșneni, Prahova County and started to play football at junior level at Rafinăria 1 Ploiești and Petrolul Ploiești. He started to play at senior level in Divizia B at Prahova Ploiești, after two seasons he returned to Petrolul, where he made his Divizia A debut on 20 August 1961 in a 6–2 away victory against CCA București in which he scored a goal. Farrar Road Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in Bangor, Wales. The site of the ground is now covered by an Asda supermarket. From 1920, the year it was opened, until 2011 it was used mostly for football matches and was the home of Bangor City F.C. The stadium held 1,500 people, with 700 seats. The stadium was due to be demolished and redeveloped into a leisure complex after the 2008–9 season. Due to several delays however the last game that Bangor played there was a 5–3 win for the home side versus Prestatyn Town on 27 December 2011. Kenneth Joseph Birch (31 December 1933 – 24 April 2015) was an English footballer who played as a right-half for Everton and Southampton, before leading Welsh club Bangor City to victory in the Welsh Cup in 1962. Football career Everton Birch was born in Birkenhead and played as a junior for Bebington Hawks and Birkenhead Boys. As a schoolboy he played at centre-forward before joining Everton as a trainee in August 1951.
