Television in France was introduced in 1931, when the first experimental broadcasts began. Colour television was introduced in October 1967 on La Deuxième Chaîne. Digital terrestrial television The digital terrestrial television platform was launched on 31 March 2005 after a short testing period. Like Freeview in the UK, it provides many new channels, as well as the current terrestrial television stations. Like the rest of Europe, France uses the DVB-T transmission technology. The 13 first digital free channels were launched on 31 March 2005. In October, 4 additional free channels were added: the 24h news channels BFM TV and I-Télé, the music and entertainment youth channel Europe 2 TV, and the free children channel Gulli, joint-venture between Lagardère Active and France Télévisions. Gérard Vivès (born 30 November 1962) is a French actor, comedian and television presenter. He is better known for playing in the series ''Les Filles d'à côté'' from 1993 to 1996, and co-hosting the game show ''Le Juste Prix'' from 2009 to 2011, hosted by Vincent Lagaf'. Biography and career Early career (1987–93) Gérard Vivès was born on 30 November 1962 in Choisy-le-Roi in the department of Val-de-Marne. ''La Tête et les Jambes'' () is a French game show which was broadcast from October 20 1960 to September 15 1975 to June 26 1978. It was created by Jacques Antoine in 1957 as a sequence in the show Télé Match, it was presented by Pierre Bellemare. Principle of the game show The game combines two competitors: a competitor ("the head") has to answer complex questions on a specific topic. In a case of failure, a high-level competitor ("legs"), must catch up with their opponent by performing a minimum performance to allow him to stay in the game. If one competitor reaches the end of the 24 questions (6 questions per week for 4 weeks), they will earn 100,000 francs. The Eurovision Song Contest 1962 was the 7th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, following the country's victory at the with the song "Nous les amoureux" by Jean-Claude Pascal. The contest was organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Compagnie Luxembourgeoise de Télédiffusion (CLT), and was held at the Villa Louvigny on Sunday 18 March 1962 hosted by the Luxembourgish speaker Mireille Delannoy.
