Cairo League
The Cairo League was an Official Egyptian football tournament. Before the start of Egyptian Premier League in its current form, the main competition was the Egypt Cup which started in 1922. The first season was played in 1922–23 and was won by Zamalek. El Sekka El Hadid Sporting Club (), is an Egyptian football club based in Cairo, Egypt. The club currently plays in the Egyptian 3rd division , the third -highest tier of the Egyptian football league system. Abdel-Karim Ezzat Sakr (; born 8 November 1918 – 5 March 1994) was an Egyptian football forward who played for Egypt and Zamalek. He played most of his career with Zamalek, and achieved 14 titles with the club. Starting his professional career with Al Ahly, he is the all-time top-scorer of the Cairo Derby, with 19 goals (10 goals for Zamalek and 9 goals for Al Ahly). Sakr is the only player to score in both derbies ending with the largest score in history, as Zamalek defeated Al Ahly with a score of 6–0 twice, in the 1941–42 Cairo League and the 1944 Egypt Cup Final, respectively. Career Sakr joined Al Ahly, he scored hattrick in his first match against Zamalek to be the second player to score hattrick in the history of the Cairo Derby in 1937, the match ended 5-0 for Al Ahly and El Tetsh scored the other two goals. Abdulrahman Fawzi
Abdelrahman Fawzy () (August 11, 1909 – October 16, 1988) was an Egyptian professional football player and manager, who played as a centre forward. He played for Al-Masry SC and Zamalek SC (where he spent most of his career) as well as the Egypt national football team. He took part at the 1934 FIFA World Cup, where he scored twice for Egypt in their 4–2 loss against Hungary, which was the first time (and the only time before 1970) that an African team had competed at the FIFA World Cup. He was thus, the first African footballer to score at the World Cup. He would have been the first African to score a hat trick at the World Cup (a feat not yet achieved by any African footballer to date) but his third goal was disallowed. Omar Shendi
Omar Shendi (; 1915 – 23 April 1992) was an Egyptian footballer who played as a defender for Zamalek. He also played for the Egypt national team, and represented his country in the 1936 Summer Olympics. Biography Omar Shendi played all of his career in Zamalek. He started his career in 1938 and played until 1949. He won with Zamalek the Egypt Cup for four times in ( 1937–38, 1940–41, 1942–43, 1943–44). He also won with his team seven titles of the Cairo League (the predecessor to the Egyptian Premier League) in (1939–40, 1940–41, 1943–44, 1944–45, 1945–46, 1946–47, 1948–49) and the King's Cup in (1941). Shendi scored once in the infamous 6-0 win for Zamalek over Al Ahly in the 1942 Cairo Derby, he also played in the infamous 6–0 win over Al Ahly in the 1944 Egypt Cup final. Mohammed Hassan Helmy
Mohammed Hassan Helmy (; 13 February 1912 – 5 November 1986) commonly known as Helmy Zamora, was an Egyptian footballer who played for Zamalek and the Egypt national team as a winger. He is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of Zamalek, having served as its president for three periods, between 1967 and 1984. As a player, he represented Egypt in the 1936 Summer Olympics, but he did not play in any matches. Zamora spent his entire career with Zamalek winning eleven titles. After his retirement, he worked as a sports director, board member and other posts in Zamalek Club, until he held the presidency in 1967. Helmy Zamora is the first footballer to hold the presidency of a club in Egypt. Besides Mohammed Haidar Pasha, he is considered one of the best presidents of Zamalek throughout its long history, he's also regarded as one of the most influential figures in Egyptian football history.
