Metropolitan Manila (often shortened as Metro Manila; fil, Kalakhang Maynila), officially the National Capital Region (NCR; fil, link=no, Pambansang Punong Rehiyon), is the capital region, seat of government and one of three List of metropolitan areas in the Philippines, defined metropolitan areas in the Philippines. Manila ( , ; fil, Maynila, ), officially the City of Manila ( fil, Lungsod ng Maynila, ), is the capital of the Philippines, and its second-most populous city. It is highly urbanized and, as of 2019, was the world's most densely populated city proper. List Of Metropolitan Areas In The Philippines
The Philippines has three metropolitan areas, as defined by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). Metro Manila is the largest conurbation or urban agglomeration in the country, and its territory comprises the City of Manila, 15 neighboring cities, and the municipality of Pateros. Metro Davao in Mindanao is the Philippines' second most populous urban area and the country's largest by total land area, while Metro Cebu in the Visayas is the third most populous. The official definition of each area does not necessarily follow the actual extent of continuous urbanization. For example, the built-up area of Metro Manila has long spilled out of its borders into the adjacent provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal. Mandaluyong
Mandaluyong, officially the City of Mandaluyong ( fil, Lungsod ng Mandaluyong), is a first class Cities of the Philippines#Legal classification, highly urbanized city in the Metro Manila, National Capital Region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 425,758 people. Located directly east of Manila, Mandaluyong was originally a barrio of Santa Ana, Manila, Santa Ana de Sapa (now a district of Manila) called San Felipe Neri. Pateros
Pateros, officially the Municipality of Pateros ( tgl, Bayan ng Pateros), is the lone municipality of Metro Manila, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 63,643 people. This municipality is famous for its duck-raising industry and especially for producing '' balut'', a Filipino delicacy, which is a boiled, fertilised duck egg. Pateros is also known for the production of red salty eggs and "''inutak''", a local rice cake. Moreover, the town is known for manufacturing of "''alfombra''", a locally-made footwear with a carpet-like fabric on its top surface.
