Joseph Oliver (1852 – January 8, 1922) was Mayor of Toronto from 1908 to 1909. Born in Erin, Ontario, Oliver lived in Toronto since he was three years old. He worked in the lumber business. He was elected to the School Board in 1885 and to the Toronto City Council in 1895,1901, 1902,1903 (also Toronto Board of Control) and 1906. He was elected mayor in 1908 and 1909. He was President of the Canadian National Exhibition Association in 1914 and 1915. He was also the Grand Sire of the Sovereign Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Oddfellows of America from 1920 to the date of his death having been with the organization for almost 50 years. Joseph Melton Oliver (born July 24, 1965) is an American former professional baseball catcher and current manager of the Frederick Keys of the MLB Draft League, a collegiate summer league partner of Major League Baseball (MLB). During a 19-year professional playing career, Oliver played parts of 13 seasons in MLB for seven different teams during 1989–2001, and was a member of the World Series-winning 1990 Cincinnati Reds. He later managed in Minor League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox organization from 2014 through 2020. In 2021, Oliver managed the Bluefield Ridge Runners of the Appalachian League, another collegiate summer league team. As a player, Oliver was listed at and ; he batted and threw right-handed. Richard Michael Oliver also known as Joe (born 16 December 1946) is a former English cricketer. Oliver was a right-handed batsman who fielded primarily as a wicket-keeper. He was born in Exeter, Devon. Oliver made his debut for Devon in the 1967 Minor Counties Championship against Cornwall. From 1967 to 1985, he represented the county in 43 Championship matches, the last of which came against Buckinghamshire. Joseph Oliver, (born May 20, 1940) is a Canadian politician who served as Minister of Finance from 2014 to 2015. He was elected to the House of Commons in the 2011 federal election and represented the electoral district of Eglinton—Lawrence as a member of the Conservative Party until his defeat in the 2015 election. In 2017 Oliver was named non-executive chairman of the board of Echelon Wealth Partners, an independent, Canadian-owned and -operated wealth management and capital markets firm. In March 2019 he was appointed to the board of directors of the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).
